Jim was a close friend from childhood well into adulthood.  Back in 1953-54 our parents had moved to Casper and in light of a housing shortage, they were staying at the Uptown Motel.  That's where Jim and I met.  We played army together.  After a long stay at the Uptown, our parents moved to the east side of town where Jim and I continued be good friends.  Jim had a special gift of excellent speaking ability.  He was so good that the local radio station (KATI) hired him when he was only 14 years old to be a disc-jockey and to read the news.  Later at the U. of Wyoming, Jim talked me into joining Sigma Chi Fraternity.   After college he married Anne Coe and went on to serve our country in Vietnam.  He later became the owner of KODI the radio station in Cody.  Later in life Jim contracted a desease that ironically affected his ability to speak and keep his balance.  I last visited with him in 2012 at his home in Cody.  He was handling his situation very well and still had a great sense of humor.  He was in a lot or pain as a result of a fall about 2 weeks before he died so, as Anne said, in many ways his passing was a blessing.  Our prayers are with him and his family.
